[Ndca-l] 2014 Damus Hollywood Invitational and USC Round Robin
Tue May 6 12:22:00 EDT 2014
The USC Policy Round Robin and the Damus Hollywood Invitational will be
held on the following dates with the following events:
Nov. 6-7 USC RR hosted at the University of Southern California (Varsity
Nov. 8-10 Damus Hollywood Invitational hosted at Notre Dame and
Harvard-Westlake (Novice and Open Policy, Novice and Open LD, and WSDC)
We pride ourselves on running a quality event for the debate community -
breakfast and lunch will be provided at the round robin and the tournament
for coaches and competitors. This tournament is an NDCA qualifier as well
as a TOC qualifier in both policy (quarterfinals) and LD (finals). We have
just added a small division of WSDC format to experiment with new formats.
*Due to a generous donation from David Damus, the former Notre Dame and USC
Director of Debate, the 2014 Damus Hollywood Invitational is waiving all
entry fees.* Note that there will be penalties assessed to late drops to
discourage schools from unnecessarily taking spots from other competitors.
There will also be judge hire fees still for those teams that need such
services. Normal entry fees still apply for the round robin.
The hotel block at the Marriott Courtyard Sherman Oaks is already open. The
rate is $109 per night and there is free internet. However, there is a
charge for parking and you must reserve bus space if needed (welcome to
LA!). There are currently only King plus sofabed rooms left in the block.
Please reserve early at the following link:
Please note more information for both the 2014 round robin and tournament
will be posted on the tabroom website starting July 1st. Registration
should open on August 1st. If you have any immediate questions, please
email me (Christina Tallungan) at tallungan at gmail.com.
Good luck to all attending NCFL, NFL and the WSDC Championships!
